Yankee Candle: Products & Services

Yankee Candle Company is a store dedicated to selling scented candles. They have many different scents and varieties, from classic scents to new scents. They also sell candle accessories, and a variety of air fresheners for your car. Currently they are selling fall scents and Halloween scents.

Yankee Candle: Company Background

Yankee Candle Company was started in 1969 by a South Hadley, Massachusetts man named Michael Kittredge. The first candle he created was a scented candle made out of melted crayons for his mother for Christmas. From that point on, all the neighbors wanted to buy his candles and he had to make them in larger quantities. Two of Michael's friends, Donald MacIver and Susan Obremski, helped him start the business. In 1975 the first Yankee Candle shop was open where the Village Commons, South Hadley now stands. In 1998 Micheal sold the company for $500 million to Forstmann Little. The company went public in 1999. In 2001 CEO Craig Rydin was hired. At that time Rydin launched a sales campaign and the company's line was picked up by major retailers like Bed, Bath and Beyond, and Linens and Things. The companies sales were through the roof, higher than they had ever been. Currently they have over 550 physical locations in addition to the online store. The stores headquarters is located in South Deerfield, Massachusetts.

Yankee Candle: Customer Feedback & Reviews

There are many reviews about the candles themselves, but I can not find a review about the actual store. Most people seem to love these candles and the scents. One consumer says, "I chose the Buttercream scent. It came perfectly packaged to protect it from breakage. I would recommend this to all adults. I love it!"

Some consumers don't always love the scent of certain candles. One consumer says, "My sisters are crazy about Buttercream from Yankee Candle. They went on and on about how good it smelled. I bought it and if you stand over the flame you can smell it. It is a very nice aroma but it doesn't' get around a lot. I'd like to send it back, but I've been burning it in the hopes that one day it will hit.".

Others say they love the candles but the price is expensive. One consumer says, "I bought this for our living room and it smells absolutely delicious! Smells very sweet and very strong so definitely recommended for larger rooms. The only thing is that it's quite a pricey candle but then again, they are great quality candles.".
